No offense, but have you? Kubo in his words have compared Ichigo and Rukia as the black sun and white moon. Wrote a poem from Ichigo’s POV about Rukia in which he said he could not keep up with the speed of the world without her. Wrote a dual poem of Ichigo and Rukia being the sand and the cog of destiny. Ichigo credited Rukia as the person that made his inner world stop raining, among other things. These two have been paired together like two halves of a whole or… the death and the strawberry.
So ya, it is not “painfully obvious” that Ichigo would suddenly end up with Orihime in the last chapter. If it was, it wouldn’t be a contested topic in bleach fandom. Just because Ichigo and Orihime shared a 1 sided crush for 685 out of 686 chapters doesn’t make it a well executed endgame couple. I love Bleach but I am not a fanboy, it is VERY badly written in some parts of the manga.
I mean I see where everyone is coming from on these debates. But my problem is everyone came off as almost sibling like. Ichigo and Rukia, Rukia and Renji. It just seemed obvious that was how it would end up with Orihime. It was like a blue print of Naruto. I dunno. It seemed obvious to me. I always assumed most people did as well. Not that I’m saying an ships are weird. Unless they are. It’s more of me just feeling like most people knew what the ending ships would be after SS.
Exactly. The only person that obviously had a thing for someone was Orihime and then you could see Kubo slowly force them together.

Absolutely love the sheer size of Ichigo’s girth in this artwork. Rangiku’s expression really sells the deal as she simply cannot fathom if this monstrum in her hands is actually real. The background is obviously beautiful as always, with my personal highlight being the shading on Rangiku’s hair, caused by the summer sun.
